SOLSC Day 1

Breathe

"Just get a grip. It's only a month. Thirty one days. Not a big deal. It's only a month. You should be writing more often. You believe in the power of writing alongside your students. It's only a month. "

So I have talked myself into committing to the challenge. My students really have unknowingly given me the nudge. They are so very excited. I overheard two students talking today. Student one said, "I am really liking writing." Student two, "Me too. I love writing."

So there you have it. Twenty four writers from room 25, looking for the write words.

More on this student writing later.

  1. So glad you're taking the challenge, Theresa! It's great fun, and will push you as a maker & sharer of words. :) Is your class taking the SOLC, too?

  2. Welcome! This is going to be a great time!
I have made a correction to your url. We need only the individual post's unique url. Yours is the blog's main url. When you get your post written for the day, click on its title, then copy and paste the unique url from the address bar into the SOL comment box. Today's would look like this: http://lookingforthewritewords29.blogspot.com/2013/03/solsc-day-1.html Tomorrow will be the same right up until .com then it will have a different ending .html to point to the different post. Does that help? If not, email me djtsmith at gmail dot com!
    Happy slicing!

  4. Theresa,
So glad you have decided to join the Slice of Life Challenge. And how cool that you are doing it with your students. It sounds like they are really excited. I loved reading their words. Ralph Fletcher is a friend of mine (I went to grad school with his wife) and I'm going to pass this on to him. I know he will be thrilled that his words inspired a child.

    1. Carol,

Thank you for your comment. This is an exciting month for writers young and old. Ralph Fletcher has inspired my writers (me too) many times. I have several of his books and most recently have been using pieces from Mentor Author, Mentor Texts. Love him! ~ Theresa
