Searching for Balance SOLS 21

Today I found myself thinking about balance and wondering why it’s such an elusive concept. Summer is the truly the time when the one-sidedness balances out. I read widely and often. I write. I garden. I cook. I try new recipes. I nurture neglected friendships. I sew. I quilt. I am balanced.

Tonight I spent a bit of time in my sewing room mostly catching up on some ironing. Even so, it felt good to be there in my little corner of balance – the fabric, the books, the quilting tools, my inspiration board, and much more. (This has been the dumping room during our home improvement.) The room needs a good tidying before I can really get down to business, but that didn’t matter. Tonight I just needed to wrap myself in my sewing room. If you enjoy creating – scrap-booking, knitting, drawing, quilting, and much more, I believe in the value of making time to feed this creative spirit, and finding your place, your sanctuary, your ”sewing room.” Where’s your place? Do you have a creative spirit? What do you create?

  1. I am with you completely. I don't really have a place - I have a chair surrounded by knitting and thread and needles, a small closet with fabric and a counter space where I stand and work. But I would go crazy if I didn't put time and space into my creative outlets. I love teaching but my projects feed me and I couldn't teach without putting time into my play.
